ODN Mastering with Linea Research
Located on the outskirts of Tours, ODN Mastering has become a reference in the field of mastering since its creation in 2012. The studio works on a wide range of productions, including electro, rap, chanson, and jazz. With over twenty years of experience in installing sound systems for concerts, Pierre-Henri Demey, the founder of ODN Mastering, envisioned a mastering studio that incorporates all the knowledge he has gained from live events.
The studio's equipment includes a pair of PMC MB2 SE speakers, two Arendal Sound 1723 Subwoofer 2 bass cabinets, and a Velodyne DD15 Plus subwoofer. As for amplifiers, Pierre-Henri Demey initially opted for a Bryston 4B SST2, a staple in the studio world, coupled with a Lake LM44 processor. "I decided to change this year because I needed an amplifier with preamplification channels. So, I sought advice from Chris Hawkes of Solution One, who recommended the 88C20 amplifier from Linea Research." Further to the advice, Pierre-Henri was able to test the new equipment in his studio. "Chris sent me the amplifier and gave me a generous amount of time, about a month and a half, to thoroughly test it. That was a huge advantage... and, of course, I ended up wanting to keep the amp!"
Pierre-Henri Demey is fully satisfied with the new gear: "With this 88C20 amplifier and its eight preamplification channels, my overall setup gains in power and flexibility. The bass is tight, clean, and precise. The highs and mids are incredibly smooth. The dynamics are enhanced, and the power is phenomenal. In fact, I get the same frequency response regardless of the volume I’m working at. I’ve completely fallen in love with this amp!" This Linea Research amplifier also allows the technician to apply his live sound expertise to his mastering studio. "I have live sound experience and expertise. With this amplifier, which perfectly complements my setup, I can bring the insights I’ve gained from live sound into my studio, and that suits me perfectly!"
